Japanese Politician Under Fire For Sex Slave Comments

Toru-Hashimoto-Under-Fire-For-Sex-Slave-Comment

Toru Hashimoto, mayor of the city of Osaka, Japan’s third largest city is in hot water behind comments concerning Japan’s use of so-called women of comfort during war. It’s speculated than more than 200,000 women were provided as sex-slaves for the Japanese military. Japan formerly apologized to the women involved in 1993.

This case goes to show the role Sex Workers have played throughout the history on the United States and abroad. Mr. Hashimoto claims his suggestion to a senior U.S military official was taken out of context. He basically said U. S troops with bases on the island of Okinawa should use the services of local Sex Workers in the adult entertainment world as a way to reduce sexual crimes against women. That sounds like a bitter pill to swallow. Maybe he should have said Sex Workers benefit everyone and soldiers that fight for our country should be treated to this luxury as a perk for their patriotism.

Mr. Hashimoto said his intentions were “to prevent a handful of American soldiers from committing crimes“ –which does not sound like a bad idea. He went on to say that the use of wartime brothels was to prevent sexually transmitted diseases for the sake of the women—Yeah Right! The moral of the story is sex-work is helpful not harmful when done right.
